Original is always in style.
Like many schoolgirls, the artist's daughter is a young ballerina taking dance lessons at a local studio. The studio sits at the end of a strip mall accented with plantings of daylilies and barberries. Such plantings are common across suburban America, but are easy to overlook as busy shoppers shuttle from cars to their shops or businesses. Waiting for the lessons to finish, the artist had the opportunity to see the beauty in this small garden. The canvas speaks not of its humble beginnings, but invites others to look more closely into the small spaces and corners
